This place could be dropped in to any beatnik destination on a country road. It is exactly what travelers will appreciate. Fresh food, amazing coffee drinks and free wifi in a casual environment. They are committed to using environmentally responsible coffee vendors, which I appreciate. Their individual quiches are about $4 but I love them way too much. :) I wish they had a broader menu but the limits fit with the environment. You can't get a heavy meal here but you can get a great daily special.

This place is such a gem outside Zion! They roast their own coffee beans. The pastries are delicious! We had wonderful cinnamon rolls and peach scones. A little seating area outback that over looks the river just ads to this little joint's appeal. I can't wait to go back!

A coffee roasting company in La Verkin! Who'd have thought. Good coffee, lovely canyon/river view from the deck, made in-house baked goods. Terrific for locals and tourists on their way to Zion alike.

Great place! Good coffee, friendly staff. Good atmosphere and good indoor & outdoor seating. Good playlist. A well put together coffee shop. The wifi is a little slow...

the folks at over-the-edge cycle shop recommended that we stop by here for a bagged lunch. this place has a friendly staff and nice sandwich menu... and the sandwiches are great. they even come with chips and a pickle! (so many places don't include them, these days).

Love. Love. Love. The coffee was good enough that we bought a pound to go, and the staff were hilarious. The pregant barrista made our whole morning. Let's hope she keeps her sense of humor once the baby is out. I imagine it will only provide her with more stories. The pastries are exceptional too. Can't wait to go back.

A not-so-hidden gem in the middle of idyllic Zion. This cafe sits outside of the polygamous mecca of Hurricane Utah. Out of the way from the Fundies, it sits at a nice spot on the highway for anyone driving from the National Park to St. George and beyond. I've driven by it many times, often in the off-season when it seems to have more limited hours, but finally tried it this past spring. The Iced Coffee was fresh and refreshing, the gluten free Lemon Bar was delicious, the Quiche was heavenly, and the barista was very cute as well, a sight for sore eyes after a long day of hiking in the desert. Skip the chain/fast food hell in Hurricane, this should be a must for anyone in the area.

Love their food! Love their coffee! Love their VIEW! Fantastic staff and wonderful combination of food and drink. My fave happens to be the bread pudding which happens to taste like French toast in a cup!! Yummy!! Can't wait to return!!

WOW! Worth the drive from where ever you are! Stopped in, just by chance, and was greeted by Jim and two other friendly baristas. Amazing service, amazing food, AMAZING coffee! Bought two different beverages, some beans and a t-shirt! Ray from Idaho Oct 14, 2013

Fantastic Coffee and out of the world scones. Great atmosphere- reminded me of San Francisco Cafes. This cafe had laid back atmosphere and great view on the patio. Worth a stop if visiting the area!

Outstanding coffee, outstanding view! We appreciate a good cuppa jo and this is the only place to go when you are in the Hurricane area. We also had a cinnamon roll. It could have used more cinnamon but the cream cheese frosting made it superb.

Needed an early morning kick start prior to hitting the road towards Zion. Beautiful scones and quiches. Excellent cappuccino - nice and strong, without the Starbuckian burnt taste.

Awesome place. Great coffee, really nice staff, try the quiche blossom, it's epic.

  • Douglas C.

If you like good coffee, you will love this place. We enjoyed some awesome brewed coffee and breakfast snacks on our way to Zion National Park. The quiche and scones were delicious! They use organic ingredients in many of their baked goods. I would highly recommend this stop for anyone staying or traveling through this area.

Not a fan of the dry cinnamon rolls. Not many places to sit and relax. The view is absolutely amazing though!

  • Jeff C.

Coffee is delicious, the atmosphere inside is nice, and there's a great selection of snacks. I strongly recommend the quiche and the scones. Plus it's open early Sunday mornings for tourists, which should get it 5 stars regardless. There are gluten free food options if you're into that sort of thing.

Excellent tasting coffee and mega scrumptious spinach quiche. Clean and good prices.

La Verkin is coming to life! Proof of it is the Rock River Roasting Company. A real gem in any community. This place not only has spectacular coffee and home baked goodies, it has what all good local businesses should have, HEART! This may seem a little "over the top" but I was so thrilled to find this quality espresso, after wandering without good coffee, I may be gushing. Try it for yourself. You wont be disappointed.

Great breakfast spot. Open 7 days a week which is a huge plus in this area. Quiches are great! Scones are excellent too. I would definitely recommend a stop if you are in the area.

Great coffee and amazing view from the outdoor patio! My friends and I stopped by on the way back from Zion and it was just the pick-me-up we needed. I got the mocha frappuccino, which was refreshing and very chocolate-y (more so than I'm used to but it almost tasted like chocolate coffee ice cream). My friends enjoyed their iced lattes as well. The food (especially the giant cinnamon rolls) all looked delicious, definitely would have gotten some if we hadn't just eaten breakfast. There's lots of seating both indoors and outdoors (with gorgeous backdrop), along with free wifi. If I lived nearby, I would totally come here to study or hang out all the time! :)

Literally the BEST coffee we had in while visiting Utah. We ordered a latte, cold brew, a breakfast bagel and the corn quiche. Breakfast was delish but the real star was the coffee. The view is stunning. what a G E M !!

  • Tejshree R.

My friends and I stopped by here for a quick breakfast on our way to Zion national park and it was the ideal place ! It is the essential local run business- and it seems to be a favorite amongst locals and tourists alike. The have their own line of coffee and it was fantastic and so were their breakfast sandwiches. Accompanying this great food was an absolutely stunning view ! We could not have started our day on a better note !

Awesome coffee (and I get 100% Kona shipped to me monthly so I'm spoiled), great price, ok view, highly recommended.

  • Clair N.

Boy was I surprised when we walked in to this coffee shop. They roast their own coffee- it is delicious. Also they offer alternative vegan fare on their menu. The staff there was friendly and the line moved fast. But the best part...the view! That view with that coffee was 100% my zen moment. Maybe it'll be yours too?

  • Tom T.

Great coffee. Cool atmosphere. Good food. Breakfast was so good, we had chili and cheddar corn crusted quiche and a ham and mushroom quiche, that we came back for a turkey sandwich for lunch. Homemade pastries and even gluten free desserts make this a must stop for any coffee addict.

After saying goodbye to Springdale and Zion, we headed south after breakfast at the hotel. We passed River Rock Roasting Co. and two friends immediately said that they hadn't had quite enough coffee that morning. (Hint, Hint) I made a U-turn. I was glad I did. This was just a beautiful spot for a coffee place: On a tall bluff, overlooking the river in the valley below. ( yelp.com/biz_photos/rive… ). A large back patio allowed us to lounge with our cups and get a few more minutes of chill time before the remainder of our road trip. Great coffee making here too, with a friendly staff. I decided to get an espresso shot, and the barista knew his stuff. My shot was perfect, with just the right amount of crema. River Rock was in expansion mode during our visit. They appeared to be doubling the indoor seating area. I'm not surprised. If I was a local, I'd spend way too much time here!

Turkey bacon avocado sandwich, peach avenue smoothie, and cold brew coffe was amazing! The view is great as well!

We were driving and i needed to use a restroom.. and out here, you don't know when the next stop you'll be able to make will be so stopping is crucial.. I'm unfamiliar with the area. There was one restroom and inside there were a couple of doors other than the one I walked through and that was uncomfy. I didn't even open them to see where they go or anything.. I just had to go but the thought of someone walking in was unsettling. I should've looked. Anyway, it's a cute little coffee shop offering sandwiches and pastries and such..What was so impressive to me was their back patio.. It's not huge or anything but the view is amazing. I grabbed a granola bar to take on the road with me but I was tempted to take more than that. Everything looked so tasty.. and everyone was so nice.. Good stop.

Love the gluten free muffins, thank you!!! Best place to go in the morning to enjoy coffee and the view!!!

Stopped here on our way out of Zion. Everyone is right on when they speak of the amazing location and great coffee! Parking was easy (we have a travel trailer so this is important). I got the cold brew with almond milk. I was happy to see they offered coconut and almond rather than the usual milk/ soy options. I also ordered lunch, turkey cranberry sandwich. They packed a cute little lunch sack with chips, sandwich and pickle. I would give it five stars but I thought the cranberry salsa did not pair well at all with the turkey. Husband liked it though so to each their own. It wasn't a sweet cranberry salsa it tasted like regular salsa with some cranberry in it, weird.

Oh my gosh!!! This place is awesome!!! They have awesome coffee and one of the best iced chai latte we have ever had. The panini's are amazing! We loved all of them. The Ham Apple Panini was the BEST!!! The deck out back is great!!! The views were breath taking. Friendly staff....this place is a gem!

Phenomenal coffee with a world class view! Stopped here on our way to Zion for a jolt of caffeine, and got more than we bargained for. Small farm stand set up outside with gigantic tomatoes and fruits was a nice touch. Inside, decor is sparse but clean and organized, staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Opted for the Powerhouse coffee, iced, blended, add vanilla- a combination of espresso and drip that kept me up and on my toes even 12 hours later. My guy opted for a caramel macchiato over ice and added on a lemon bar from their pastry display. Took our drinks and snack out to the back patio where we stayed for awhile admiring the view and nibbling our snack- lemon bar was just sweet enough so as not to be tart and crust was just right without being too thick, gluey, or pie-like.

  • Jerry T.

2 words "LEMON BArS" they are amazing!!!! In addition to the coffee (Amazing) they also offer food and a microbrewery on site!! Will come back if I ever come to Zion again!!!

Great spot to stop by when going or coming to Zion. Good coffee and more with fantastic views. Felt artsy inside and service was good.

  • Jessie B.

I love stopping at River Rock Roasting Co. after a day of exploring nearby Zion Canyon for a caffeinated pick-me-up. Service is always friendly, there is a nice selection of homemade baked goods, and the drinks get the job done while tasting delicious. And they are open on Sundays (many businesses in this area are not) My go-to drink here is a dirty chai latte. I have had it both hot and iced and while it's not the best I have ever had it is quite good. I love that RRRC offers soy and even almond or coconut milk for a small upcharge. On our last visit my husband ordered the bread pudding. The edges were a little overdone but the flavor was phenomenal. The inside is rather small, as long as weather permits you should sit on the patio out back. It a lovely view of the Virgin River.

Thought the girls behind the counter could've done a better job with counter service but my roasted corn and green chile quiche was DEE-LISH and my coffee was nice and creamy also!

  • Joyce R.

Great location and service. Good stopping place to chill after a hike @ confluence park trail.

    (5)
  • Carolyn B.

Get the roasted corn and green chile quiche -so tasty with just the right amount of spice and light as well because crust is corn tortilla. They also do have soy milk for the coffees, terrific. Great coffee, food, service, and view!

  • Tonya H.

The best breakfast sandwiches around. The view is amazing and very relaxing. Absolutely LOVE it.

    (5)
  • Kachina D.

Great coffee!!! If you go here make sure to order one of their quiches and some type of pastry because they are absolutely delicious. If the weather is nice try to score a seat outside in the patio area which has some great scenery to compliment your coffee. Amazing place, I wish we had something like this back home in California.

Stopped here for breakfast on our way out of Zion. The exterior of the cafe was quite unassuming, but it's got a really sweet patio with plenty of seating in the back that overlooks a canyon at a bend in the river with mesas in the distance. Got turkey & cranberry sandwich (~$7) and ham and cheese croissant with egg (~$6) Both were delicious - the sandwich had a healthy amount of sprouts in it and felt really refreshing, while the croissant was super hearty and had an amazing spicy mayo spread. Portion size was good. Also tried two different roasts of coffee, both were pretty good. Of note, you get one free refill of coffee if you dine in, and $1 refill if you're getting the coffee to go. Will definitely be back if we're visiting Zion next time.

  • Olena V.

Good coffee roasted on site every Tuesday. I tried Ethiopian and Nicaraguan, the latter was the one I preferred. They also have tasty sandwiches and super tasty cinnamon buns!

  • Dave N.

This place is a really great way to spend a breakfast or brunch on the weekend. We went up on a Saturday morning and ate on their back patio where you get an excellent view. It wasn't too busy either! We had an Italian soda, chai, spinach quiche and a cinnamon roll and it was all excellent! If recommend if you are going to or from Zion, or if you are local and want a fun light way to spend a Saturday morning.

What a great surprise! On our way back from Zion, we decided to stop at this little shop that caught our eye. We weren't expecting much but being greeted with friendly service was comforting plus the coffee was awesome. I don't know how to compare it to the other coffee shops in Utah but being from Las Vegas, this was much better than the corporate stuff I'm used to. Their food was good but nothing special. After making our order, we walked to the outside sitting area in the back and was pleasantly surprised by the great view of a small river downhill. Needless to say, we were very happy with our decision of stopping by this little gem.

  • Hank M.

Best coffee shop in the area. Coffee, edibles and service are top shelf. Sit on the shaded back patio in the morning and take in incredible views of the (upper) Virgin river gorge. Minus one star because smoking is allowed on the back patio. It seems to happen rarely, but spoils the otherwise lovely atmosphere when it does.

  • Dusty W.

On vacation you always want to visit the little local eatery that offers incredible drinks, food and service. This is the place! It's perched on the edge of the beautiful Virgin River Canyon with amazing views through the canyon and surrounding mountain ranges. There's seating indoors, out on the back patio and even down off of the patio closer to the edge of the river bed. It has an awesome appearance inside with wood paneling on the walls, modern counter tops, natural light, cool signs for ordering, great art and even a glimpse of the roasting machine itself. Don't forget to try one of Aunt Becky's Cinnamon Roll, which is soft, moist bread roll with cinnamon mixed in and a delightful white frosting! This place is incredible! The customer service is great too as it is owned and operated by locals with deep roots to the area! You will NOT find a better coffee shop in southern Utah, period, explanation point!!!

  • Heidi H.

Very nice place with tons of drink options as well as pastries. We came in here on the way out to Zion and I was in search of a Chai Tea and they had a nice one. They had a basket of day old muffins and other goodies for only $1 so we got a few of those along with my Chai tea Latte and hubby's Vanilla latte. Staff was preoccupied and didn't really engage with us too much. I asked a few questions and they were short with the answers and I didn't get that "warm feeling" I'm used to at coffee shops. They did seem to engage with the men who came in (perhaps locals) but overall the place was a good choice for getting my chai, it was a bit on the sweet side but good. They have a very nice menu and the view out back is very nice as well, definitely worth a stop in if you are in the mood for something to eat and/or drink.

This place was just heaven when me and my mom left Zion in the hunt for a good coffee and a snack. I had previously looked it up on yelp, and was excited to try it out. It left us super super satisfied and happy and ready for our drive back to Vegas! Mom got a decaf latte, which she loved, and I got the powerhouse coffee (Two shots of espresso and fill it up with regular brewed coffee), and then shared a kische and a mixed berry muffin. Kische was delicious, creamy, but light. Muffin was AMAZING: full of fresh berries, moist, and just the right amount of sweet. Next time I hit Zion I will definitely be stopping there and trying something else, because everything looked so good that it was hard to chose and I need to go more times so I can try the rest!!

    (5)
  • Dave G.

Super excellent coffee, amazing (read highly addictive) cinnamon rolls and a great view. A nice place to stop on your way to or from Zion without paying the Springdale premium. It is a smaller location and can get busy with visitors as well as locals.

    (4)
  • Sandy K.

Super friendly and super good. Asked the baristas for their advice on an iced espresso drink that wasn't too sweet and they recommended a half sweet iced mocha with soy and it was perfect! I went with a local's recommendation and had a ham, apple and cheddar cheese panini and, again, it was excellent! My drink was so good, I went in and bought a pound of beans so I could try to make it at home.

Perfect place on a Sunday for coffee.. amazing snacks and beverages . also they have beer!

  • Carmela O.

Just stopped in for a quick drip for a long drive back. My iced latte was just okay but my cinamon roll was good. They had dog biscuits you could buy and the proceeds go straight to a local animal shelter. We didn't explore the facility but it seems like it probably had a stunning view and could be a cool place, but my review is limited to the items consumed, which as stated, were just okay.

Great sandwiches, good coffee, WIFI, and a view. I work on the road and this place was a delight. sit outback and look over the canyon while you enjoy a nice coffee.

  • Jess C.

I had an amazing strong cup of coffee at River Rock. The owner was friendly, and for some reason, I was totally shocked and impressed that he whipped out a Square dongle to accept credit cards. The pastries are diverse and delicious. * Blueberry Scone: They have fresh scones and day old scones ($1). The blueberry scone was super buttery and soft, it reminded me mostly of a muffin. I think it was the most delicious scone I've had in my life. * Quiche: I tried both the spinach-cheese and bacon quiche. The bacon one is good but has alot of chipotle flavors so I preferred the spinach cheese. Can't go wrong.

Perfect place to stop after a ride on the trails. Grab a handcrafted sandwich and an ice cold beer! Or grab another powerhouse and hit the trails again. The view off the balcony won't disappoint with the amazing view of the virgin river canyon.

I take visitors to my school here all the time. The sandwiches are amazing. I like the Turkey Cranberry. One of our parents from Atlanta orders their coffee because it his his favorite. He is a pilot and travels around the world so I'm thinking it must be pretty good. The cinnamon rolls are amazing as well.

Good coffee, smart people, relaxed vibe. Feels like an off-Broadway coffee roaster in Portland. Try the cold brew. Costa Rica roast is good for take-home.

Awesome place to stop for good local coffee and nice service. Also provides beautiful scenery and mellow chi.

I returned today to give the espresso and pecan roll a try. Espresso was pretty delicious as well as the pecan roll. It was very busy but they gave quick service and were friendly. As to the coffee it depends on who is making your drink as to wether or not it is delicious. All in all a pretty good coffee house.

Really, really, really good coffee. If you are driving through Hurricane on your way to Zion, this place is a must stop about two miles north of downtown Hurricane. If you don't stop, it will be your loss. Yummy baked goods and quiche.

This place was such an amazing surprise on our way from St. George to Zion. I'm a bit of a cappuccino fanatic and they did not disappoint. Perfect foam and delicious coffee were just the beginning. My boyfriend got the tortilla quiche which was delicious and fresh...and soon gone. The highlight though was the abundant outdoor seating with, hands down, the best view I've ever seen from a coffee shop terrace. The whole experience was so wonderfully pleasant that we stayed for much longer than any other place would have warranted. SO GREAT.

Wonderful coffee and the chile corn quiche - YUM! Eating out back with an amazing canyon vista - the perfect way to start a day traveling to Zion.

Great place for a light breakfast with a view. The frozen chai was excellent with a cinnamon roll and a spinach quiche. My wife had the banana bran muffin and she liked it as well. The atmosphere is very chill. The seating area sits on the edge of a cliff looking down at a river canyon. We saw some soaring Hawks.

I stopped here with my family on our way out of Zion. This was the perfect little spot after a long day of hiking and a long drive ahead. Very cozy coffee shop with a great view. The spinach quiche was delicious with fresh ingredients making for a tasty treat. The owner was both friendly and welcoming, definitely recommend stopping by for a coffee or any of their goodies.

I am so glad that this place is not super close to my house otherwise I would spend a lot of money here! We have always ordered their ice-blended coffee drinks here on our way out to Zion and they have never disappointed. Service and quality of coffee are both excellent!

  • Justin F.

The most unassuming, great coffee place, on our way to Zion's, stopped had a cup, and had to stop on return, and come back the following day, Sunday! Great, fresh coffee, and beautifully fresh pastries, with a smile, and view to boot.

  • Micah Z.

My wife and I tried this little coffee shop out, as we were driving through the Mt. Zion area, based on Yelp reviews. We are so glad we stopped. The food was fantastic! We both had sandwiches, my wife ordered the turkey/bacon panini, while I ordered the turkey cranberry. Try their homemade lavender lemonade if it's available. It's delicious! Once you've made your order, make your way to the back of the café and sit outside for an amazing view!!

  • Sara S.

Stopped here on my way out of Zion National Park, in serious need of a caffeine fix for my long drive. Even though the posted hours said they were closed, the owner said he was staying open a bit longer that day...to my good fortune! I had a cappuccino and a delectable sticky bun with pecans on top. The atmosphere was great, including a beautiful view from the back porch. The "drink local coffee" logo on the owner's shirt and hanging photography and artwork were a great send off from the area. Next time I pass through, I'll be coming back for another cappuccino!

I was looking to stop in St George to get coffee on our way from Zion to Vegas. By chance I saw the sign (roasting here) along the road and I pulled over the RV. What a treat. Nice people, great coffee and THE VIEW in the back (while you wait for your latte) make it a must stop for all coffee loving travelers. Thank you.

I loved my cookie and my sister's scone. I would give it 5 stars but my sis didn't like her scone too much. It had a wonderful flavor but was dry. Coffee was good. The deck is a great place to sit and look at the view.

Outstandingly fresh coffee, breathtaking views, delicious cinnamon bun, and I highly suggest the bacon avocado turkey panini with Gouda. This will be our go to spot when we visit Zion. Thanks guys!!!!

Great lunch spot! We had a panini and a brownie while sitting on the deck looking over the river valley. Our sandwich had turkey, bacon, avocado, pesto and sourdough. Awesome! The brownie was topped with coconut. We were totally pleased with the quality of the food and the view.

  • Josh K.

A definite precious gem! Their coffee, pastries, and quiche are highly recommended. The view from their deck is definitely cheesecake icing on the cake. When you are in the area, this is the place to go for freshly-roasted coffee and snacks. Did I mention their quiche is good? Enjoy!
